Transitional Living Program for Families & Youth
The Sunshine Initiative’s Transitional Living Program (TLP) provides safe, stable housing and comprehensive support for families and youth aging out of foster care in Washington, DC.
Our program operates through two structured housing models: family-based housing for households seeking stability, and shared living arrangements for young adults transitioning out of foster care. Both models are designed to create safe, supportive environments while promoting independence and long-term success.
Participants receive individualized case management, life-skills training, workforce development, and financial education, and may remain in the program for up to five years. All participants are required to actively engage in school, employment, or vocational training to ensure progress toward self-sufficiency.
Our goal is to move every participant from housing instability to lasting stability, independence, and opportunity.
